About Patrice

I am a Nordic Food Geek and meatball historian, and author of Land of 10,000 Plates: Stories and recipes from Minnesota (2020) and Jul: Swedish American Holiday Traditions (2017). 

My weekly food and culture column, Called to the Table, appears in my hometown newspaper The Gaylord Hub, and I am a cooking instructor with American Swedish Institute, Vesterheim Museum, Nordic Ware, and other venues around the region. I appear regularly on local TV, radio, and podcasts.

A lutfisk visionary who loves updating traditional Nordic foods for modern tastes, I believe that food is a perfect tool for storytelling. I have a master’s degree in immigration, Minnesota history, and Swedish foodways, and live in the Twin Cities with my husband and our cats.
